iDataFax 4.0.1

WHAT

This PHRI communication is being issued to inform you of an upcoming upgrade to iDataFax on May 14^th, 2010. iDatafax is the software program that PHRI uses to manage data in studies that you are participating in.

PHRI is scheduling an upgrade of the software that manages the studies that you are participating in.

In order to prepare for this upgrade PHRI requires that you download a new version of the iDataFax client software. This new software can be installed on the same computer as iDataFax 3.8.3 that you are currently using. The new software cannot be used to connect to the current version of DataFax on edc.phri.ca but will be needed to connect once the upgrade has been completed. We ask that you download and install the iDataFax 4.0.1 client in preparation for the upgrade and report any issues with the installation to us.

You can download the iDataFax 4.0.1 client by clicking on the following link and provide your iDataFax login id, study affiliation, and site number if you know it. Upon entering this information you will be prompted to download and save the iDataFax 4.0.1 client.  If you are participating in more than one PHRI study using iDataFax, please list all study names and all centre IDs in the appropriate fields.

WHY

As with any software, there are improvements which we must implement and that provide additional benefits to PHRI and study sites. Some of the additional benefits you will see are:

• The software will warn you before disconnecting and let you choose to stay connected

• Improved support for sites affected by Firewalls and Proxy servers

WHEN

At this time PHRI is targeting 5:00pm EDT on May 14^th to commence the upgrade with full iDataFax 4.0 availability by 8:00pm EDT on Sunday May 16^th. During this time DataFax will be unavailable.

SITE REQUIREMENTS AND IMPORTANT REMINDERS

• Download and install iDatafax 4.0 client software before May 14^th. The client software will be available for download starting April 26^th.

• Leave your iDataFax 3.8.3 client installed on your computer until we inform you it is okay to remove it. You need to continue using iDataFax 3.8.3 until end of day on April 16^th. You will need to use the iDataFax 4.0 software after that date.

• Your login name and password will NOT change. Additional training is NOT required. Continue to use the system as you did previously.

• Access to iDataFax to enter data will be unavailable 5:00pm EDT on May 14^th to 8:00pm EDT on Sunday May 16^th. However, data that you normally send by fax will still be received by DataFax during this upgrade.
